Responsibility From The Start
I joined Vendigital straight from university, and was looking for a company where I had a varied workload and felt I was making a difference to the business – during my two years here so far I have definitely ticked these boxes. Whilst like any job there will be some replicable tasks, no project I have been on has been the same and I am constantly challenged to learn new skills and processes or get up to speed with sector knowledge. From initially starting off supporting on project delivery we are encouraged to move towards running our own workstreams. It increases the confidence in your own abilities and keeps you motivated. It’s satisfying to know that from early in your career in Vendigital you are actively contributing to the success of the company.
More recently I have taken on a role as a Business Development Executive, meaning that a portion of my time is spent supporting a specific sector’s senior team in our business development pursuits. This involves a variety of activities: from supporting with proposal development, managing our opportunity pipeline, facilitating internal workshops on sector strategy, to getting involved with marketing activities. Once again this encourages me to buy into the success of our sector team and also contribute to our strategic direction. It’s a great opportunity for me to work with and learn from the senior team. Many companies claim to have a flat hierarchical structure, which I am often sceptical of, and so it’s great that at Vendigital this truly is the case and the partners/directors are approachable with any queries or just for a chat.
Even as a more junior member of the team I’ve always felt trusted to have autonomy in my work. This high level of ownership can mean working some long days when I need to, but ultimately this flexibility works both ways and I don’t feel pressure to be glued to my laptop screen 24/7.
